8/ 30/2009 The Trident Sports / Starboard SUP Tour continues its way around sunny Florida and landed in Jupiter at Jupiter Paddle Boards.  The calm waters of the inner coastal water way provided the perfect setting for beginners to get their sea legs.  Seasoned SUPer hosts John and Bari Denney along with Tommy Callan of Beach Boy Events provided instruction and encouragement throughout the day and managed to get over 50 people (and a few dogs) up and SUPing by mid afternoon. Brownie, the wonder SUP dog.

“I think the reason why its caught on so well is that anyone can do it and walking on water is something that really appeals to people, you know standing and propelling yourself across the ocean” says John who lived in Hawaii for 13 years before he decided to bring the sport he helped pioneer to south Florida two years ago. 

Ali Denney who is 12 years old says “The sport is exciting cause you don’t have to hook up to anything all you need is a paddle and a board and you’re off in the water and then everybody looks at you and says wow, that’s cool! What’s that?”

“It’s not a very expensive sport compared to jet skiing or boating you know. It’s a nice way to get out on the water for economical way.” says Denney.

Plus, it’s a great way to get in shape!

Darian Boyle is an avid paddleboarder and says “You’re just in the natural elements and you don’t realize you’re getting a core workout and that’s the beauty…Its great to know you’re getting a workout and don’t really know (laughing)

John Denney says “Its a real good way to get a family out on the water. It’s one of the few sports that from the grandmother all the way to the granddaughter can do it.”
