 9/13/09 No Wind? SUP is the perfect activity when the wind dies on South Beach.  The Kite Shop, through its 2 locations, will get you trolling the beach insuring a hook up by the afternoon.  Lots of fish here!

 The beautiful aquamarine water only slightly rivaled the scene on the sand, making this stop one of the best on my Tour of the Sunshine State.

It wasn’t all pretty though; I did see some classic paddling techniques but overall everyone had a great time being introduced to SUP and were quick to ask where to get one!  It was a “add SUP and sell” day for the Kite Shop who is heading up the SUP movement here. I think at least 6 people wanted to buy my sample demo boards! Sorry, go to the Kite Shop for your best deal!

 Look for their rental and lesson program to try it out and have some fun.  Morgan is more than qualified to show you the ropes, having just finished a 28 mile race around Manhattan, I think he’s ready for you!

 And big Alohas to Moglio (Oliver) and Rick; here I am 6,000 miles from my Maui and I meet friends of friends.  Rick and Moglio make up the other 2/3rds of the Frank Forbes (now Maui SUP crazed maniac) modeling trio that was the inspiration for Zoolander!  Great guys however really, really good looking they are!

 And there’s “Frank” who pulls up to the beach in his 600 HP boat to slow things down a little on his SUP.  After a leisurely paddle he was stoked to pull me behind his boat as we tried to pioneer POWERSUP in Miami.  Frank, I had a blast despite the nut slapping wipe outs and the loss of my new shades!  Classic.  Video coming out soon.
